Assignment of the “freight forwarder” field in the order

Trips and order

The ‘Forwarder’ field in the order is used to indicate the planned freight forwarder who will operate trips within this order. This value is set at the stage of creating or editing an order and acts as the default value.

How does autocorrect work on trips

If a forwarder is specified in the order, then when creating a trip within this order, the forwarder selected in the order is automatically inserted in the ‘forwarder’ field of the trip.

Auto-substitution always works, regardless of who exactly creates the trip. This allows you to avoid situations when the order manager creates a trip and forgets to manually select the appropriate forwarder.

Change of forwarder on a trip

The forwarder specified in the order is not strictly assigned for all trips. You can change the forwarder manually on each particular trip.

Important to consider:

  • The forwarder selected in the order is always saved in the order itself and does not change automatically
  • The forwarder changed on the trip is considered the actual forwarder of the trip.
  • When creating subsequent trips in the same order, the system will again offer the forwarder specified in the order as the default value.

Display in statistics and filters

Visual statistics, reports, and filters use the actual forwarder from the trip, not the forwarder specified in the order as intended.

Thus, a situation is possible when:

  • a single forwarder is specified in the order by default;
  • a different forwarder is assigned for a particular trip;
  • statistics and filtering show the forwarder from the trip;
  • At the same time, the order card continues to display the originally selected forwarder.

This behavior is correct and reflects the separation of logic:

  • Order-the intended forwarder by default.
  • Trip – the actual forwarder involved in the transportation.

Briefly

  • Forwarder in the order – the default value.
  • The forwarder on the trips is the actual responsible person.
  • Statistics and filters work for the forwarder from the trip.
  • Changing the forwarder on a trip does not affect the forwarder stored in the order.
